Dr. Marlon Valencia is a Licenciado en Lenguas Modernas from Universidad del Valle with an M.A. in Foreign Languages and Cultures from Washington State University and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from York University in Canada. He completed his doctoral studies in Language and Literacies Education with an added Collaborative Specialization in Comparative International and Development Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education from the University of Toronto. Dr. Valencia is an Assistant Professor in The Department of English at Glendon College, York University in Canada. He is the ESL Program Director and Coordinator for the Certificate of Teaching English as an International Language. He has presented and published his work in numerous international scholarly meetings, journals, and edited volumes. His research interests include: multiliteracies, visual ethnography, language policy, experiential learning; as well as the intersection between creativity, imagination, and teachers’ or language learners’ identities.
